OPG NOVKOVIĆ

– Cheese factory & other domestic products

Opg Novković is located in Veljun. Family Novković is engaged primarily in cattle breeding and production of delicious cow’s cheese top quality!

“We produce 8 types of organic cheeses (škripavac, trapist, smoked, cooked (with additives), feta, fresh…), collectively called “Korana cheese”, from unpasteurized milk by traditional technology to preserve the recognizable product of the region.”

In addition to cattle breeding and production of cheeses, on the Novković family farm are:

Chokeberry fields, a hazelnut farm, and a production of homemade honey!

We can organize a visit to the family farm for you, where the Novković family will organize a tasting of their products, presentation of their property, production technology and show you the true experience of life in the countryside and a farm!

OPG MAGDIĆ – Distillery and Tasting Room

Already well known in Croatia, fruit liqueurs and brandies of distillery Magdić with unique products such as “Brandy TO GO” and the most famous brandy, with the striking name “Jebenica” you can taste in the newly opened distillery and tasting room located next to Rastoke.

Not that you can only taste brandies and liqueurs, but Mr. Magdić will reveal all the secrets of their production in the distillery to you as well!

Contact us and we will organize a visit to the distillery with a presentation of the production, where you will have the opportunity to taste a large number of homemade brandies and liqueurs such as: Plum brandy, walnut liqueur, William brandy, cherry liqueur, honey brandy, grape brandy, blueberry liqueur and many others, all ECO produced and top quality!

OPG OBROVAC – The wine from Slunj

Want to try quality local wines? We offer you the opportunity to taste the excellent wines of the Obrovac family from a vineyard located in the village of Ponor in the immediate vicinity of Rastoke and Plitvice Lakes. Wine varieties of white wines: Graševina, Chardonnay and Manzoni bijeli and red wine: Cuvee Slunj will ideally fit in with the traditional dishes of the Slunj-Plitvice region.

OPG JAREBOVI MLINOVI – Mill in Rastoke

Visit the old Rastoke mill located in lower Rastoke where you can buy homemade flour milled originally by the traditional Rastoke method, in the old mill using a millstone. The mill is open to visitors.

Ranch Deer Valley

Ranch „Deer Valley“, as part of OPG Bićanić which was established in 2009., is engaged in breeding red deer and fallow deer. At the ranch are also black Slavonian pigs and three horses.

Ranch Deer Valley is situated in the area of Drežnik Grad, a village located around 30 kilometers from our tourist center. The ranch covers an area of about 15 hectares. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature with unusual sightseeing and feeding of wild animals.

Barac’s caves

You will experience unforgettable moments enjoying the impressive beauty of the underground world, formed by nature for thousand of years

In the past Barac’s caves were also known as Radakovic’s caves. The surname Barać does not exist anymore in this region – it is a toponym dating back to the period before or during the Turks invasions. According to the oral tradition of the local people, a person with a surname Barać fought heroically and defeated a raging Turkish giant near the caves therefore the caves were in his honour named after him.

Now we know that there are three caves. Some call them the Great and the Small, the Upper and the Lower, and the third one is simply called- the Third, and it allegedly has nothing to do with the first two. Since the latest rediscovery of the cave and its entrance we have called it the New Barac’s cave.

With eco light torches in your hand, we take you through the halls and channel paths and bridges between the grand figure. In this way you will experience memorable moments in the impressive beauty of the underworld, which is formed by nature for thousands of years. Stalactites, stalagmites, stalagnates, oysters, are just part of the cave lavish wealth, which you can see in the 30-minute sightseeing. Cave abundant endemics of the underworld, and the historical genesis goes to the ancient beginnings of creating human civilization.

If you are craving for adrenaline, try your skill at one of the nearby adrenaline parks!

The offer includes:

Zip line – length 300 m. Speed is up to 70 km/h, with a very interesting and attractive view of the canyon and a flight over the river Korana. It is necessary to have adequate clothing and footwear, clothes and shoes for staying in nature (shoes, sneakers, boots) for the downhill.

Adrenaline program – consisting of 25 elements divided in lower and higher levels.
The lower level is 2.50m +, and the higher is 6m +

Paintball – various programs and games with all the necessary equipment (helmet, vest, gloves, rifle, protective suit)

Tomahawk – If you are not a lover of heights and demanding obstacles, try throwing tomahawk axes into wooden targets.

Spring of the Slunjčica river – Hiking trail

Discover the heart of Croatia!

We are revealing hiking trail that leads all the way to the spring of the Slunjčica river!

A trail in untouched nature

This unreal blue- turquoise water gem will delight you as an ideal place for walking, enjoying nature and relaxing.

Small bridges, wooden stairs merged with nature, follow an exciting easy walking trail right next to the river Slunjčica, 7.4 km long.

The trail next to the Slunjčica river is not circular and you should return back the same way, so true lovers of untouched nature and Nordic walking fans can expect more than 14 km of an exciting adventure!

If that sounds too ambitious for you, don’t worry! The route can be adjusted and shortened, and you will still experience the beauty of this river!

That’s the reason why people of all ages can dare to embark on this expedition of exploring the Slunjčica river! The trail is not hard to cross and it is accompanied by mostly quiet parts with a couple of exciting locations that guarantee a great photography!

Where does this untold fairy tale begin?

The distance of only 1.5 hours from Zagreb makes the Slunjčica river a perfect nature escape and the best possible #weekendgetaway!

You will find the beginning of this hiking trail in Slunj, the location is the ‘bridge of love’ or as the locals call it – ‘Moćanov most’ (only a few hundred meters from Rastoke).

You can leave your car in the large parking lot next to the Church of the Holy Trinity or you can park near the old town of Slovin.

Good advice is as valuable as gold

Although the trail is continued by easy walking without major ascents, our warm recommendation is to bring comfortable but quality footwear (as if you are going hiking), especially during autumn and winter conditions when the trail can be slippery and a bit muddy.

At the beginning of the trail there are two beautiful wooden houses, so be sure to take the opportunity and organize a small picnic as a refreshment before the active healthy vacation that follows!

In addition to that, you will find a large number of benches and rest areas along the entire length of the river, so you can opt for a short break or picnic at any time!

Just follow the course of the river Slunjčica, and to make sure you are on the right path, there are markings in the form of red dots along the entire path.

The trail is also suitable for children, feel free to take your little ones and adjust the length of the trail that will suit your family best!

Now you have another reason to visit Rastoke or a new exciting idea for how to extend your vacation if you are planning a trip close to Plitvice!
